There is an abundance of top quality produce literally on the doorstep. Pittenweem Market is a wonderful source for monkfish, halibut, turbot and cod. Langoustines, crabs and lobsters are cooked to order and in the summer may be served with mixed organic salad leaves with a tomato and basil vinaigrette. In the autumn, hot lobster with winter chanterelles on a saffron sauce is a delight not to be missed. Free range ducks, chickens and eggs come from a nearby farm and there is always a plentiful supply of game in season. Experience a Taste of Scotland with dishes such as Perthshire Grouse served with a salmis of legmeat, roasted shallots and bacon. Speciality breed lamb also feature on the menu. In Spring 2004, the restaurant had a total refurbishment to create a modern elegant dining room that still maintains the relaxed, welcoming atmosphere that is more in keeping with the modern Scottish style of cooking. The aim of the restaurant is to provide top quality Scottish produce and cooking without pretention ina relaxed setting. To complement this there is an extensive, reasonably priced, wine list to encourage diners to drink good wine with good food. |
