Jimmy and Amanda Graham have been the proprietors of Ostlers Close since 1981. They have firmly established themselves as one of Scotland's premier restaurants receiving many accolades along the way. The development of Ostlers Close has been a long voyage of discovery for Jimmy and Amanda, but time has increased their enthusiasm rather than diminished it. Jimmy devotes himself to the preparation of Scotland's abundant produce. He insists on the highest quality of ingredients and over the years has established an excellent network of local cottage industry suppliers with the same passion for quality and commitment that shows in the end product. So committed to wanting the freshest of ingredients for his kitchen that, when the local organic farm closed, Jimmy bridged the gap by growing more vegetables, salad crop and herbs himself with the aid of a polytunnel. There is no use of insecticide and, as a chef, this can give him confidence in his ingredients. The garden also supplies the majority of the flowers which, arranged by Amanda, decorate the restaurant's tables throughout the year. |

Gardening is a relaxing hobby for Jimmy, but his main passion is mushrooms. Every spare minute is devoted to the hunt in local woodlands - St Georges, ceps, chanterelles, blewits - the list is endless, the end result superlatively delicious. Amanda's main role concerns the running of the restaurant. With her small team of staff, she provides immaculate service but maintains a friendly and relaxed atmosphere for the customers. A visit to Ostlers Close is a rewarding experience where you can be assured of the finest food, the best of service and a warm Scottish welcome. |
